I have the honour to acknowledge the
receipt of your confidential letter of the 11th
of March, 1931, on the subject of increasing the
Chinese element in the Hong Kong University and
to forward herewith copy of a letter from the
Vice-Chancellor on the subject.
2.
I send you this in order to enable you
to present the actual facts to Dr. Wang, when a
suitable opportunity should occur.
3.
I personally an in favour of increasing
the Chinese element as suggested, in the event
of suitable and well qualified candidates being
available and forthcoming and i gave instruction
that the vacancies referred to in the last
paragraph of the Vice-Chancellor's letter should
be advertised in China.
